Clinical supervision is a powerful way to develop your skills when working with other people and is seen as a journey that never ends. Anyone in Adelaide looking to realise their potential as a counsellor and therapist will benefit from training at Adrienne Jeffries Counselling.
For those who wish to reflect on their work, transform and empower themselves and their supervisees, you can truly benefit from our experience. Clinical supervision encourages us to think differently and to develop initiatives in prevention and rehabilitation, focussing on health and potential, rather than pathology.
Clinical supervision requires you to develop the ability to recognise the many parts of yourself and bring them together in an integrated and powerful whole. Using your case material, you will grow in your ability to lead people to resolve issues and experience the unfoldment of self.
Dr Margaret Tonnesmann (1979) said in the fourth annual conference to commemorate the work of Donald Winnicott:
The human encounter in the helping profession is inherently stressful. The stress aroused can be accommodated and used for the understanding of our patients and clients. But our emotional responsiveness will wither if the human encounter cannot be contained within the institutions we work. Defensive manoeuvres will then become operative and these will prevent healing, even if the cure can be maintained by scientific methods, technical skills and organisational competence. By contrast, if we can maintain contact with the emotional reality of our clients and ourselves then the human encounter can facilitate not only a healing experience but also an enriching experience for them and us.

Adrienne sees people by appointment, Monday to Friday. She also consults by telephone consultation and asks you to call her direct line on 08 8332 5407, or Skype her at the arranged time.
To gain the most benefit, Adrienne recommends meeting with her on a regular basis. Most professional associations require their members to have a minimum of 10 supervision sessions each year.
You set the agenda and can discuss complex or difficult cases, practice marketing, professional development issues, or other matters of importance to you. Consultations are of one-hour duration.
